That’s exactly what the new owners, Nathan and Brandi Barrett, fell in love with, and they’re thrilled to carry on its legacy while adding their personal touch.
Nathan and Brandi aren’t new to Cleveland. Born and raised in this small town, they’ve known Greg, Carol, and the Crumley family all their lives. “In a small town, everyone knows everyone,” they say, and that close-knit spirit is what drew them to CeNita. The winery and venue have always been family-run, and that’s exactly what Nathan and Brandi intend to continue.
“We want CeNita to remain a relaxing, comfortable space where people can come together, unwind, and enjoy time with family and friends,” they share. With dog-friendly policies, a kid-friendly playground, and the perfect mix of casual and classy, it’s clear their vision is rooted in making CeNita a welcoming space for all.
But who are the new faces behind CeNita? By day, Brandi manages a heart failure unit as a registered nurse, and Nathan works as a project manager in commercial construction. By night (and weekend), they’re turning CeNita into a family business they can grow together and eventually pass down to their children.
“We wanted more for our family—something we could retire with and leave as a legacy for our kids,” they explain. After one family wedding last September and planning another for this May, they were inspired to dive into the world of venues and wineries. And now, it’s a full family affair! Their younger kids are learning the ropes as kitchen helpers and barbacks, while their older kids (and their partners) are stepping into the business side. Even their parents are getting involved, from greeting guests to decorating for events.
Of course, not everything at CeNita is changing. Macy, Nathan’s sister, remains the manager of the venue. With her years of experience hosting events and ensuring everything runs smoothly on the property, customers can expect the same friendly faces and top-notch service they’ve always enjoyed.
Under Nathan and Brandi’s care, CeNita is more than just a winery and event venue; it’s a place where memories are made. Whether you’re planning a wedding, hosting a special event, or simply enjoying a weekend getaway, their goal is to make every guest feel at home.
Speaking of getaways, CeNita will soon offer expanded lodging options to make your visit even more special. In addition to the charming one-bedroom cottage, they’re adding another Airbnb on the property that will comfortably sleep 10-12 guests. Whether you’re planning a family reunion, bridal party stay, or just need a peaceful retreat, CeNita’s accommodations offer the perfect blend of comfort and convenience.
So, what’s next for CeNita under their care? The vision is big, but it’s all about staying true to the hometown charm. Plans are already underway to modernize the venue with fresh paint and exposed beams, create more year-round usability with glass-paned sliding walls, and restructure the tasting room for better crowd flow. They’re also opening Dock’s Place as a tasting room extension for more seating and rolling out a wine club soon.
But it’s not just about the changes—it’s about preserving what makes CeNita special. “We love seeing people meet their friends and family at the winery to catch up. It’s such an honor to own and operate a business in our hometown and build on the incredible legacy that came before us,” they share.
When they’re not working hard to make CeNita even better, you’ll find Nathan and Brandi enjoying a quiet moment outside the tasting room with a glass of their favorite wine (Chambourcin Reserve is the top pick!). “It’s serene, refreshing, and such a great way to unwind after a long week,” they say.
Their hope is that every guest leaves CeNita feeling just as refreshed and stress-free as they do. Whether you’re here for a wedding, a wine tasting, or one of the weekly local events, Nathan and Brandi want you to feel loved, welcomed, and part of the CeNita family.
